Five founders on First Street
On April 4, 1947, Central Chain & Transmission Co. was founded by a group of five men, with the original storefront at 709 South 1st Street. From day one the business served Central Washington's agricultural and industrial needs from a counter in downtown Yakima.

The Berg family takes the counter
Orin Berg began work with the group in 1966 and purchased the company in 1972. Central Chain has been family owned and operated in downtown Yakima ever since — quality products at affordable prices, so local growers can stay productive and operational.

A new generation, a new building
In 2003, Orin's son Randy and his wife Mary took over the business, with Jody Simmerman as their right-hand man, and oversaw construction of a new building to accommodate the company's growth. Together they built a crew with a strong focus on knowledge, outstanding service and support for their customers.

The third generation
Today, the third generation continues the lineage: Jacob Berg and Brianna St. Hilaire. Along with the whole team, they remain dedicated to continuing Central Chain's tradition of excellence for decades to come.
